Answer #1

A patient with hyperglycemia has an order for regular insulin IV at a rate of 8 units/h

Insulin concentration is 50 units in 100 mL of 0.9% NS.

Rate at which insulin pump will be programmed at mL/h = 16 mL/h

Calculation:

Let x be the rate

x mL/h = 100 mL / 50 units x 8 units / 1 hour

x = 800 mL / 50 h = 16 mL/h
