f- tag is a federal regulation that governs the long term care facilities and used by each state department of health and centre for Medicare and Medicaid services to survey quality of care provided to residents in long term care facilities.

F-tag 314 refers to the regulation governing care of Pressure Ulcer including Prevention.The new F-tag mandates the risk assessment for pressure ulcer in every resident on admission along with a complete body check for pre existing ulcers.

The basic preventive plan includes turning and positioning , supplemented by pressure relief devices such as heel pads, seating cushions, mattress.Mobilisation is essential to prevent pressure ulcer and involve physical and occupational therapist.
