There are mainly five key components make active directory. Each component has its functions and structures. The key components are domain, tree, forest, organization unit, and site.

Now let us discuss in detail about forest component:
When comes to forest component it contains at least one Active Directory tree. This domain concept comes in to the picture when domain controller is configured. Then it will ask if you want to have a new forest of domains and yes should be enabled to need that. Graphical representation is very much needed and followed because you will have a difficulty where forest ends and where is begins. The forest component is the true security among the active directory structural components. Schema is the main root to create the structure of the forest.
