Hospice is a program of supportive and palliative services for dying patients and their families including physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions of care.

A registered nurse serves as case manager in hospice services.It is an unique position to facilitate early discussions about a patient wishes and goals at end of life . Case manager evaluates and cares for a terminally ill patient. They also educate families and other care givers for the patient how to provide quality competent care and analyse any potential problems the patient may be suffering from . They also serves as an advocate and mediator for patients .

Case managers is a member in palliative care team and works along other workers in promoting mental health and preventing ignorance in care for patients. They handle any crisis situation at ease.

Thus they play an active role in management of hospice services.
