Ethics Discussion
You are a new nursing assistant in a long term care facility. Your first several weeks on the floor have been stressful and you are feeling overworked and are struggling to keep up with your duties. One of the residents under your care is claiming that she is missing a valuable bracelet that has great sentimental value. A thorough search has been conducted by the facility and nothing has been found.
Last week your coworker commented on the bracelet when you were both assisting the resident, saying that it was very beautiful and that her mother had lost a piece of jewelry that was very similar years ago, and she missed it very much. You have no reason to suspect your coworker, other than that one comment she made in passing. Your coworker has been a great mentor to you in your first days on the job and seems to love her work and the residents. What obligations do you have concerning this situation?
The obligations that I will have concerning the situation mentioned above is that I have to atleast check on my co worker as she had commented on the bracelet and now it is missing and cannot be found. I will not make any direct accusations to her but a random questioning should be done in order to clarify all the doubts that has been aroused. It is our duty to question all those who are under suspicion and being a friend or mentor doesnot hide the truth.
