Answer #1

A typical single beam flame atomic absorption spectrometer consists of a hollow cathode lamp in a modulated system which is modulated by a rotating chopper kept between the flame and the source. The modulated light then goes to the flame where elements are kept at their ground state. After absorption, the light then goes to a monochromator where the light is grated to wavelengths of interest and then finally to the detector for graph.
