3. In this experiment, could you have used methanol in place of dichloromethane?

1.We can not use methanol for extraction because methanol is water soluble, so while extraction we can not get two separate layers.

2. Extraction process is separation of organic and aqueous layer but if you use methanol as a organic solvent we can not get layer separation, so we can not use methanol in palce of dichloromethane.
