In case of IT core projects there is no role of Business Analysts. These are projects are implemented and set up by the IT/Software engineers as they have the expertise and idea of the project.
I dont think there would be much impact if this team had a business analyst. The major job of business analyst is to confirm that the business is on right. He usually works with the data available with him and so he would not be a good fit in the IT project.
