  • Here 2010 is the base year and we take the CPI of the base year as 100.
  • In 2015 the total cost of books and hamburgers equals $30+$3 =$33.
  • As the customer purchases the same amount like the base year we can calculate the CPI of 2015 as:-
  • CPI =( cost of market basket/cost of market basket )*100

= ( $ 33/ $ 33 ) * 100 = $100//
