Communication ius a complex and dynamic process involving the sending and recieving of messages and it includes the verbal and nonverbal forms of expression and is influenced by personal and societal values,individual beliefs and cultural orientation.Any means of exchanging feelings between two or more people.it is the basic component of human relationship.Interpersonal communication between health professional and patient/clients humanises the care,the relationship meshes the compassion,knowledge and the patients experiences.This increases therapeutic effectiveness in attending to tasks and activities ,which ultimately leads to an increase in trust between the care giver and patient.The essential components for interpersonal communications are genuiness,respect and empathy.One of the tactics of maintaining effective communication are keep communication open with patient ,tasks can take over,dont loose communication for need of task.The primary goal of the nurse-ptient relationship is health,well beingand safety of patient.Good communication is an excellent way to prevent a clinical problem from being cited as reasons for malpractice claims.Patients who feel that they were treated with respect and compassion sue health care providers less frequently.Communication is the key factor in providing quality care.Creating a therapeutic environment depends on the nurses ability to communicate,provide comfort and help the patient meet his or her needs.In the health care sector ,important aspects of patient communication are interviewing and active listening.Inorder to communicate effectively one must understand the various factors that can affect the exchange of messages and to use communication techniques that are most appropriate for each individual situation.
