Positive RIB reaction is an indicator of Slipping rib syndrome. It can be tested by a hooking maneuver. The patient is placed in a supine position. The physician curling the fingers beneath the costal margin (8-10 ribs) and then lift upward. Reproduction of some sharp pain on the rib indicates a positive RIB reaction. This pain is caused by the slipping rib movement. This can be treated by conservative therapy or an intercostal nerve block.
