Occurs when energy intake is greater than energy expenditure. Body weigh tends to increase during positive energy balance.

3. BMI is body mass index and it's classification :-

- Underweight

BMI of <18.5

- Acceptable

BMI of 18.6 - 24.99

- Overweight

BMI of 25.0 - 29.99

- Obese

BMI of 30+

4. Body mass index is Weight (in kilograms) divided by height (in meters) squared; a value of 25 and above indicates overweight and a value of 30 and above indicates obesity. We calculate it by :

weight in kg / height in meters square

5. Three characteristics important for sustainable weight loss are :-

- A high internal locus of control (that is, they were motivated by internal, not external, factors)

- High self-efficacy (that is, they believed they could do it)

- Better coping strategies for dealing with stress
