3. How the condition is managed- medication? Will they have to give themselves injections? Will they need to change their diet?

4. What kind of follow up is needed for this condition? Will they need to return to the clinic weekly? monthly?

5. Holistic care: Might they want to join a support group for other people with this condition? Where can they find information? Is there an app? There is probably an app ;)

1)The symptoms of asthma are

  • Wheezing (whistling sound made during breathing )
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Chest tightness
  • Coughing at night time

2)The asthma can be confirmed with the following diagnostic test

  • Spirometry test
  • Peak flow meter to assess peak expiratory flow
  • Pulmonary function test
  • Metacholine challenge test is a confirmatory test
  • Allergic sensitivity test
  • Neutrophils in the blood count carries in asthmatic patients

3) Management

Medication : inhalers to relieve symptoms immediately

Bronchodialators to relive bronchospam

Anti inflammatory drugs to relieve inflammation

Use if nebulizer as per the order

In chronic cases,daily medications to be taken

Other remedies

Avoiding triggers and allergens

Caffeinated tea and coffee has the theophylline content

Inhaling eucalyptus oil eases breathing

Application of mustard oil on the chest to relieve inflammation

An asthmatic patient need not administer injections to relieve symptoms but can take the metered dose inhaler.

A diet should be highly balanced rich in vitamin D,magnesium, beta carotene,avoid foods triggering asthmatic attack,no alcohol, no smoking,ne strenuous exercise

4)Folow up

The acute conditions are treated and then the patients care advices for preventive care in follow up

Visit to a primary care provider after acute attack to get review of asthma control,action plans,triggers and medicines

Regular or periodic follow up as per the order

5)Holistic care

  • Can make use of asthma tracker
  • Apps like AsthmaMD,asthma buddy,asthma check ,propeller, kid's app will likely keep one on maintaining healthy lifestyle
