One of your clients in post-operative unit complains of severe pain on his surgical site. List a Non-opiod and an Opiod medication that could be given to manage pain. Drug When to withhold?

In the case of the management of postoperative severe pain at the surgical sites the Non-opiod medications are NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications) like diclofenac, ibuprofen orally or if required by the rectal route. Further in this case the opiod medications are recommended in injection (generally morphine injection is given by the intramuscular parental route) form as per the severity of pain is concerned. But at the same time opiodal analgesics should be used with caution as there are various associated like constipation and urinary retention and drowsiness, hence if overdosing occurs then naloxone is administer.
