AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT DISORDER

  • A pattern of inheritance in which an affected individual has one copy of a mutant gene located on one of the autosomal chromosomes.
  • Trait appears in both sexes with equal frequency but both sexes transmit the trait to their offspring and doesnot skip generations.
  • Recurrence risk : Isolated cases may be due to a new mutation especially if fitness is low.
  • Possible type of mutations

  • A pattern of inheritance in which an affected individual inherit two mutated genes,one from each parent.
  • Trait appears in both sexes with equal frequency and tends to skip generations.
  • Recurrence risk is one-fourth for sibling of the proband (25%).
