Single bonds are known as sigma bonds while double and triple bond are known as pie bonds.

In a single bond , there is only one sigma bond , no pie bond.

In a double bond , one bond is sigma and one is pie bond.

In a triple bond , one bond is sigma and two are pie bonds.
