Pathophysiology:
cretinism, iodine deficiency, antithyroid drug (PTU), radiation of thyroid gland, autoimmune illness, like Hashimoto's thyroiditis
signs&symptoms:
myxedema, constipation, loss of libido, impotence, congestive heart failure, loss of memory and apathy, anemia periorbital edema, dry brittle hair, and nails enlarged tongue, thinning of lateral eyebrows,loss of axilla pubic haire, intolerance to cold
diagnostics for confirmation::
increased TSH hormone level
decreased t3&t4 hormone level
increased lipid&cholesterol level
treatment&management:
medication:levothyroxine sodium& liothyronine sodium
