Read the passage and take a moment to reflect on the two questions that follow. Write a one-page reflection paper to answer the questions and share your thoughts.

Picasso often shared his philosophies and insights concerning his art and other artists works.

"Everyone wants to understand art. Why not try to understand the songs of a bird? Why does one love the night, flowers, everything around one, without trying to understand them? But in the case of painting people have to understand. If only they would realize above all that an artist works of necessity, that he himself is only a trifling bit of the world, and that no more importance should be attached to him than to plenty of other things which please us in the world, though we can't explain them. People who try to explain pictures are usually barking up the wrong tree". -Pablo Picasso

Do you think only artists can explain their work?

Answer #1

There is no clear direction from an artist. when the artist did their work so deeply they can not explain their work what they did. The artist who explain their work must say something that creates sense for the people. If an artist explain their work in an easily understandable way, it means they are simply lying or they find to simple their way with funders to the artist they do not about art. If art is really good there may be many reasons for that and there may be many reasons for unexplained.picasso saying good artists borrow and great artists steal and it is must everyone should understand the art, it changes their idea and mode of expression.
