Infection that is transmitted through sexual contact are known as sexually transmitted infections.

NANDA DIAGNOSIS:

KNOWLEDGE DEFICIT RELATED TO DISEASE CONDITION AS EVIDENCE BY SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS.

Nursing interventions .

1. Knowledge regarding sexually transmitted infections are given to the patient , such as route of entry of causative organism, avoid intercourse with multiple partners, always use contraceptives, encourage your partner for using contraceptives.

2. Regular monitoring of vital signs ,such as temperature of body is to be done , and antipyretics should be administered as prescribed to reduce body temperature .

3. Instruct client for safer sex practices with the use of condom , by avoiding intercourse with multiple partners, abstinence etc.

Rationale:

1. Knowledge regarding sexually transmitted infections will reduce the chances of STIs in future.

2. Checking vital signs will give base line data regarding patients condition, as increased body temperature the first sign of infection.

3. Use of contraceptives like condom can prevent the exchange of fluids from one partner to another, and can protect from various sexually transmitted infections such as syphilis, gonorrhoea, HIV , etc.

Patient outcome.

1.Patient will have knowledge regarding sexually transmitted diseases.

2. Patient will get to know the causes of sexually transmitted infections.

3. Patient will know the importance of using condom .

4. Patient will educate his partner regarding the same.

5. Patient will know the importance of hygiene during contact.
