Answer #1

a) The amplitude of current inside a conducting material exponentiallu decreases becuse of the facot

e^{-d/\Delta}

where Delta is the skin depth

When this is 10 % = 10/100 = 0.1

e^{-d/\Delta}=0.1

-d/\Delta=\log(0.1)=-2.3

or

d=2.3\Delta

b) When the amplitude is 1 % = 1/100 = 0.01

e^{-d/\Delta}=0.01

or

-d/\Delta =\log(0.01)=-4.6

or

d=4.6\Delta

c) The phase is

d/\Delta

when this phase is 90 degrees = Pi/2 radians

d/\Delta=\pi/2=1.57

or

d=1.57\Delta

d) When this phase is 180 degrees = Pi radians

d/\Delta=\pi=3.14

or

d=3.14\Delta

    Example 5 reads: We consider an infinite slab of a conducting material with magnetic susceptibility xM carring a certain current distribution. The slab is parallel to the xy plane, between z--a andz-a. It carries a free volume current density J, (z) -(Joz/a)i which is plotted in Fig 9.12. Above the xy plane the current is out of the page, below it is into the page, and the integrated current density is 0. Outside the slab is vacuum. What are H,...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
