The above 2 illnesses are having sustantial publuc health importance. Nearly 30 % of asthma & COPD is through occupational illnesses. CDC states that 20 million US workers are exposed to agents that cause airway disease. this accounts for 4th leading cause for mortality. Currently 10 million are affected. 28% of adult asthma is from work settings.
2. Infectious diseases:
Health care & social workers are at risk of TB, HIV, Hepatitis B & C etc. Bacause they work very closely with the victims & the lab people who does the sample analysis also are at risk. The Risk of Hep B is from 2% to 40% spread to workers. around 2 million workers are infected. Vaccination need to be given to those workers.
