An example of the learning opportunity which I got and that would help me to gain expertise in a speciality field such as Emergency is live practical demonstration of BASIC LIFE SUPPORT .

It was during my internship period , out organisation used to hold classes on different topics on weekly basis . It occurs on every Saturday . One Saturday after my morning shift I had my practical class . The topic was BLS and that too live on a patient . First of all a demonstration on dummy was shown to us after explaining the theory portion . Then they took us to the casuality where we saw the live BLS , differentiation of patient on the basis of triage etc . The professor divided the staff team and learning team into two and divided the duties . The learning group was told to do the CPR and the staff was told to do the ventilator settings and to check the defibrillator functionings. Both the teams did the duties under supervision and the patient was revived soon ,put on ventilator and shifted to ICU.

It was an enthusiastic experience and I wanted to do more . It helped to gain confidence in doing CPR ,to know how to manage an emergency case without being panic . It was one of the best learning that I had .
