The term doula refers to a woman (there are no men) who provides physical, emotional, and educational support to pregnant women during labor and delivery. There are no national standards for certificationfor this new health care occupation. Compare doula with nurses and explain why you think doulas will or won't find it difficulty to achieve professional status.

Doulas are a professional persons who are trained and has a good skill innhandking a women in multidimensional way like providing physical and emotional support during childbirth.They are paid based on the skills and experience. Nurses are also knowledgeable in a professionally trained manner and develops skills to handle patients but their pay is not based on individuality rather than the standard pay scale  of the hospital.Hence doulas in accordance to their skills and experience can be certified after proper training and can achieve professional status without any major difficulty .
