Geriatric population concerns with the elderly population above the age of 60 years. The estimated survey shows that the rate of elder population is increasing all round the globe. the US census estimated that there is around 77 million elder population in the region.

Age is always seen as a factor od discrimination and inequality in society. Therefore, there are also many negative sterotypes about seniors or the geriatric population.

One of the common sterotype regarding old age is that people in old age cannot work. This turns towards the employment discrimination for older adults. Other sterotype includes old people cannot learn new things. Moreover, it is belived that old age is unattractive, tabboo and old people are too sensitive.

These sterotypes results in inequalities among different aged population and also cause abuse and harm to many geriatric adults.
