Every nation's development path was started with the Farm sector and the industries associated with it. Different countries have different types of occupational structure. If we talk about industrialized nations then for them non farm sector may not be that important but for nations whose economy depend on farm sector, for them it is a priority sector. Also in many countries the employment is not in line with the non farm sectors. Disasters and natural calamities create devastating effects on the farm sector. There are also inequalities related issues where some region benefit more than others. Reasearch analysis and policy making is also the main reason for distinguishing between the data. Clubbing the data with rest of the sectors i.e, industry or services sector will not help the governments as still a handsome amount of population is engaged in the farm sector in every country. Ex. In above case in Australia Agriculture and its closely related sectors earn $155 billion-a-year for a 12% share of GDP and now to mitigate the effects of climate change the farm sector needs a different strategy than rest of the sectors.
