Why do we call education a customer input technology? Is the same true of the production of a normal commodity good, like automobiles?

We call education a customer input technology because an input technology is something that helps in increasing the production of output. Education increases human capital efficiency by imparting knowledge and technical know-how. It increases the production possibility frontier and thus increases output. It helps in increasing productivity and efficiency of output.

Yes , The same true of the production of normal commodity goods, like automobiles. Here the input is labor force with technical know-how (gain from education) like engineers that works with machines(physical capital) for the production of automobiles.With the given amount of resorces(skilled labor(human capital), education works as an input , we can produce more and more amount of output(Automobiles)
