Answer: Eliquis is the brand name of Apixaban. It is used in the treatment and prevention of strokes due to severe blood clots. It is an anticoagulant which prevents atrial fibrillation ( part of the heart that does not beat properly). Apixaban is an anticoagulant that works by inhibiting factor Xa.

The side effects of Apixaban are:

  1. Serious bleeding
  2. Nausea
  3. Easy bruising
  4. Red urine
  5. A severe headache
