1. removes germs from hands

2 .prevent infections because prevent germs entry  into the body through eyes ,nose,mouth .

3 .single most important tool in preventing the spread of health care assosiated infections between patients.

4 .handwashing with water alone reduced the presence of bacteria to 23%

5.. handwashing with plain soap and water reduces presence of bacteria to 8%

cons of hand washing

1. using too much alcohol based hand sanitizer or too frequently washing hands leads to dry hand , crackles ,

infections,even alcohol poisoning

1. patient may fall from bed if he tries for self turning without help of anyone.

2. not possible in paralysed or unconsious patients.

3 in iv  cannulated patients ,chance of needle injury while self turning

4. patients may forget for self turning atleast every 2 hrly
