1.The normal heart rate is 60 to 100 beats per minute (bpm) in an adult.
(A range above the normal range is called as tachycardia and a range below the normal range is called bradycardia. )
From birth to a month it ranges between 70 to 190bpm
In infants ranging from 80 to 160bpm
In toddler:80 to 130bpm

2.The human body is controlled by the nervous system .When an individual is in stress ,anger ,excitement, exercise, anything which can trigger them leads to stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. This releases the catecholamines (which consists of epinephrine and norepinephrine or adrenaline and noradrenaline) which increases the contraction of heart and thus increasing the heart rate.
3.When an individual is in rest ,relaxation practice, meditation or any activity which can make one calm leads to stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system. This releases the acetylcholine. This has the ability to relax the heart contraction and decrease the heart rate.
4.The main difference between heartrate and pulse are
The contraction of heart is called as heart rate whereas the pressure (contraction) exerted by it leads to the blood flow through the capillaries of the blood vessels causing pulse.
5.The carotid artery is used to check in the neck and radial artery in the arms to check heart rate.
6.An average adult will have HR between 60 to 100bpm.If it is outside the range it could be because of exercise ,stress, medication, medical conditions, etc.,
7.A resting rate of 40 bom can occur when the person is an athlete or whi involves in greater physical activity daily. It is different from others because in athletes because of regular activities it increases the size of heart and thus keeping the resting heart rate at the lowest around 40bpm .This is normal for an athlete.
