At this point in your lives and careers, all of you have likely been involved in health care for a while. You have probably experienced countless opportunities to interact with clinical patients. In 100-150 words, retell of a time when you witnessed a patient's spirituality provide a direct impact upon his or her health care (do not use patient identifiers: name, room numbers, etc). If you are involved in a health care profession that does not include direct patient contact, please draw from your experience with family, friends, or co-workers. How did their beliefs effect health care? Did their beliefs effect their health negatively or positively?

Spirituality is a way to find peace of mind.This is highly followed by certain community and culture generation after generation.The beliefs and practices existing in accordance with this may interrupt the modern healthcare services being delivered to a patient.

A patient posted for surgical intervention is having a very low hemoglobin count.It is a medical and emergency indication to transfused blood in order to take the patient for surgical intervention. Doing the surgery without blood transfusion will put patient under greater risk for fatality or death as bleeding may occur during surgery. The patient's belief and practices in accordance to their spirituality led to refusal of procedure. After a long conversation and explanation the patient accepted with family support yet the procedure was not successful delaying all other procedure.This belief has had a negative effect on health.
