A. Promethazine can be given diluted or undiluted. Only concern is that concentration of the drug should not exceed more than 25mg/mL.

Prescribed dose for the patient is 12.5 mg IVP. The promethazine available concentration is 25 mg/mL, hence patient required 0.5 mL to get 12.5 mg of drug.

0.5 mL of the drug can be diluted with 4.5 mL of NS to get 2.5 mg/mL solution of drug.

B. If this 5 mL (0.5 mL of drug+4.5 mL of NS) is given over 2 minutes, then 1.25 mls of drug need to be administered in 30 seconds
