Why are syrups generally made of high concentration of sucrose?
Generally syrups are made of high concentration of sucrose because diluted syrups are more prone for bacterial growth and concentrated sucrose is used as preservative from bacterial growth . There are other reasons also such as syrup are concentrated to mask the bitter taste of the drug and to provide stability and solubility of the syrup
High concentred sugar resist the bacterial growth by virtue of its osmatic effect
