The life style factors that reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes :

Manage weight - Excess body fat particulary if stored around abdomen, can increase the bodys resistance to insulin hormone .

Exercise regularly - Moderate physical exercise on most of the days in the week helps in manage weight , reduce blood glucose levels.

Eat a balanced healthy diet - Reduce the amount of fat in diet especially saturated and trans fat. Eat more vegetables , fruits and high fiber diet , whole grains and cut back salt.

Limit junk and processed foods

Quit smoking

Limit the alcohol intake

Control blood pressure levels

Regular checkups of blood glucose , blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.

If history of geetational diabetes present , specific measures need to be taken earlier for the next pregnancy

Stress - stress causes several reactions in the body , one of which is releasing hormones that increases blood sugar levels. So adapting some stress reduction techiniques is very essential to prevent type 2 diabetes.

I incorporate these life style factors slowly by changing the diet pattern ie reducing the fat and salt.

By doing exercises regularly weight can be managed and slowly i incorporate all the above life style factors to prevent type 2 diabetes.
