Resuscitation is an emergency procedure used to survive the life of victim during heart attack.

Resuscitation includes mainly two components

  • External chest compression
  • Artificial respiration

Steps of resuscitation:-

  1. If you found victim unconsciously on the floor call as (Mrs.....Mrs.... are you ok).
  2. Call for help.
  3. Activate emergency system
  4. If there is no response from victim. check for carotid pulse at 2 inches away from trachea and respiration
  5. If there is no pulse but there is respiration. Give only external chest compression until the pulse regain
  6. If there is no pulse and respiration, start spontaneous external chest compression and mouth to mouth breathing at the rate of 30:2.
  7. While giving Breathing clear the airway, tilt the head and give mouth to mouth breath. And observe for chest elevation during artificial breathing.
  8. Do 5 cycles of CPR and recheck the pulse. And continue upto reaching hospital.
  9. If there is no response to compressions and artificial restoration, then go for fibrillation.

Dangers of CPR:-

  • If you give respiration without cheating airway it further blocks airway
  • While giving external chest compression locate the xiphoid sternum, than give compressions just above the xiphoid sternum. If you didn't given at pepper site, fracture of rubs may occur.
