19) Calculation of Flow rate(mL/h)

           Formula

              Flow rate(mL/h) = Volume(mL) /Time(hr).

         Volume of heparin required for this patient

            Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

           Here

              Desired dose(D) = 1200 units/hr.

              Dose in hand(H) = 40000 units.

                     Quantity(Q) = 500 ml.

      As per formula

         Volume of heparin required for this patient = D/H *Q

                                                                        = 1200/40000 * 500

                                                                        = 0.03 * 500

                                                                        = 15 ml.

        So

                  Flow rate = Volume(ml) Time(hr)

                                  = 15 ml/hr.
