- New research reveals that people are more likely to change jobs when they are younger and well educated, though not necessarily because they are more open to a new experience.

- Researchers found that both individual characteristics and the labor market are factors in career mobility.

The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older,” states the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission website. This includes applicants and employees alike. Age discrimination is a job search reality.

- If two workers are both protected by the ADEA, an employer still may not use age as the basis for an employment decision. For example, a company can't hire a 45-year-old over a 62-year-old simply because of age; if the company hired the younger employee due to her age, the 62-year-old employee would still have a claim.
