Answer #1

The  Food and Drug Administration (FDA or USFDA) was established following the passage of the Federal Food and Drugs Act in 1906. It is a federal agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, which is responsible for the protection and promotion of public health by monitoring of food and drug products according to well maintained guidelines.

  • The old requirements does not need to mention the added sugars separately, but it is added in the new food label by FDA to help the people to to identify if their diet contain more then 10 percent of added sugar.
  • As same as in the old labels, the  number of Calories listed on the Nutrition Facts panel refers to the Calories per servings not in the entire package.
  • The % Daily Value for vitamin C is not mandatory to be listed according to the new  requirements for food labels
  • Nutrient or health claims included on a food label may be conceived of and written by the manufacturer of the food product. There is no change in this according to new guidelines.
  • According to new requirements,The % daily values describe how much nutrient are contributed to daily diet per serving .

Thus the answer is,Added sugars must be identified separately from total sugars on the Nutrition Facts panel.
