You are in a meeting, and you disagree with your coworker about nurses having to make sure the patients food trays are removed. Your coworker says "I didn't get my degree to be a waitress." Some of the ways to respond in a most assertive way are

  • To listen to the coworker first and make sure no disrespectful words, actions are used which can make the situation more anger
  • Professionalism has to be maintained by taking responsibility to keep the patient surrounding clean and tidy by clearing all the unwanted things like used medication strips ,IV Bottles, food trays ,dirty linen, etc.,
  • The professional degree for a particular job is holded by everyone, in certain cases it is equally important to do things which does not have any direct association with one's degree but depends on human nature and there concern and care towards a sick individual
  • A strong request can be made by the head of the team in an assertive manner to avoid conflicts.That it is one of the part of patient care.
