Recently in 2016, India witnessed Demonetization of its currency which had large scale implications in Asian economies as well as stock markets. Demonetization had led to massive plunge in inflation and sudden rise in unemployment due to credit freeze and tight liquidity norms which further accelrated the slump in real GDP.
Demonetisation also led massive reduction in FII and FDi growth, net losses in top 100 Blue chip companies within Asia, trade deficit and currency depreciation. To revive the economy the government quickly recirculating the new notes and lowering interest rates as combination of expansionary monetary and fiscal policy to combat macroeconomic issues and prevent widening of Philips Curve.
