  • Polar bears has the ability to smell a seal through ice upto 3 feet.Hence they can adapt well in polar areas.
  • Snakes can feel the vibrations from the ground through its sensitive skin so that it can understand how large the prey is or identify danger. Hence snakes being reptile can adapt well to its environment.
  • Alligators have very sensitive skin so that it can detect minute vibration changes in water. Hence they belongs to the water.
  • Owl's ears and eyes have remarkable ability to help them locate prey at night. So they are nocturnal.
  • Crytochrome in bird's eye helps in avian magnetoreception which alter the birds visual system and gives information about its orientation.This helps them while flying.

Visual signals - Example:Falcon

   Falcon can see 10cm object from 1.5 km away. It's visual acuity is 2.6times that of human. It can see sharp image even when diving 100miles/hr.

Olfactory signals - Example: silkworm moth

   It can detect pheromones 11 Kms away at a concentration of 1 molecule per 107 molecule of air.
