My family and my childhood friend group are two examples of primary groups in my life. My workplace colleagues and fellow yoga class members are examples of secondary groups. These groups feel different because of the level of intimacy I share with the members of groups. The connection I have with my primary group is strong and enduring, whereas with secondary groups, it is surface level and temporary. Furthermore, my primary group comprises of a small set of individuals while my secondary group has a much larger number of members.
