Answer #1

Psychological intervention comes into the context of psychotherapy. This process in mostly used in a professional relationship by client. This therapy improves person’s capability to deal with existing thoughts, emotions, feelings and behavior. Focus in this regard pins down the prevention than the remedy to any existing trouble/problem/issue. Psychologists formed interventions that intend to produce changes in the lives of people who seek support for the same.

Certain intervention programs are desgined to prevent psychopathology and diseases having a longer history. It has also been started as a recent emphasis in clinical psychology. But above all of it , the most common form of intervention is psychotherapy. Several instances of how and where these psychological interventions can be used according to a book named: Clinical psychology is:

'For example, an intervention may be designed to reduce-the frequency of the consumption of alcohol or cigarette smoking. Other interventions are designed to change emotions by decreasing emotional distress and increasing emotional comfort, as when an intervention is used to reduce feelings of anxiety and worry. Still other interventions are intended to change the waysthat people think; for example, to stop persistent thoughts about a traumatic experience or to help individuals develop more positive and optimistic beliefs about the future. Psychological interventions also may be designed to change underlying biological processes. Examples include the use of psychological techniques to reduce blood pressure, lower resting heart rate, or decrease headache pain. Finally, interventions can be designed to change the environment rather than the person, such as changing the structure and resources of a junior high or middle school to ease the often stressful transition of students from the primary grades. Most interventions are, in fact, designed to produce change in more than one of these levels of functioning.'
