Examine how the four non-routine skills contribute to study of supply chain management. Discuss any two non-routine skills, i.e. abstract reasoning, system thinking, collaboration and ability-to-experiment that are more important for supply manager.

Non routine skills help any managers to improve the quality of deliverables and adding more values to the work.

Abstract reasoning:- This is inductive reasoning which helps innovative thinking, building new concepts. This will be very much required in Supplychain functionalities as the manager needs to build new concepts on load builiding, effective order fulfilment, resolving the demand vs supply gaps etc.

System thinking:-  It is a  holistic approach to analysis things which  focuses on the way that a system's constituent parts can interrelate and how the current  systems work over time and over context of larger systems.This helps in relating things quicker in work and providing solutions soon. This avoids unwanted confusion and create a relatability between various functionalities to resolve issues in inventory management, shipment planning etc.

Collaboration:_ This build synergy and create a overall team work for resolving issues and generating more values from the effective supplychain management system. This can helps in reducing Bull whip effect, co ordinating with vendors and shipment agents like freight forwarders.

Ability to experiment:- Supplychain managers should be ready to take calculated risk based on the situartions and innovate constantly to attain effectiveness. Mode shift, network optimization, inventory optimization etc can be experiment based on the seasonality, customer demand patterns. cost optimization etc.
