Answer #1

Part A

Answer

12mol

Explanation

N2(g) + 3H2(g) -------> 2NH3(g)

stoichiometrically , 3moles o H2 produces 2moles of NH3

So,

Number of moles of NH3 produced by 18moles of H2 = (2/3)×18mol = 12mol

Part B

Answer

128.82g

Explanation

N2(g) + 3H2(g) ------> 2NH3(g)

stoichiometrically, 1mole of N2 produce 2moles of NH3

Number of moles of NH3 produced by 3.78moles of N2 = 3.78mol × 2 = 7.56mol

mass = number of moles × molar mass

mass of NH3 can be produced = 7.56mol × 17.04g/mol= 128.82g

    Learning Goal: To understand how to use stoichiometry to convert between quantities of reactants and products in chemical equations. Stoichiometry describes the quantitative relationships among the reactants and products of a balanced reaction by directly comparing mole ratios. Stoichiometry can be used to convert mass, number of moles, or number of particles between products and reactants, as shown in the flowchart displayed in the figure.
