What is the function of the gene product of the H locus ?
The gene product of H locus is epistatic to the formation of antigen on the surface of RBC.
A antigen is formed by Ia gene and B antigen is formed by Ib gene. But it HH or Hh is also present, than there is no formation of antigen.
Gene that encodes for H/h is epistatic those that encodes for Ia, Ib and Io.
So, in this case the phenotype and genotype will be as follows -
H_IaIa, H_IaIo, H_IbIb, H_IbIo, H_IaIb, H_IoIo = O blood type
(O blood type have no antigens)
hhIaIa, hhIaIo = A
hhIbIb, hhIbIo = B
hhIoIo = O
hhIaIb = O

17-3. Describe in words the role of CTCF plays in the H19/Igf2 mouse gene locus in details. [Hints: paternally-inherited locus, maternally-inherited locus, differentially methylated regions (DMRs) DMR1, DMR2, and imprinting control regions (ICR)]
For a given gene locus, you identify the following genotypic frequencies: AA = 0.65 BB = 0.25 What is the frequency of the AB genotype? What is the frequency of the A allele? What is the frequency of the B allele? Show all work.
Normally the FMR1 locus does not have DNA methylation in the gene or promoter region. However, copies of the FMR1 gene with mutation length CGG repeats are modified; they have DNA methylation extending into the promoter region. This leads to ____________ expression of that copy of the FMR1 gene. no change in decreased increased
