Answer #1

Crystal and feature driven development methods assist in designing and developing enhanced version of sahana.

Crystal Methods(CM): Belongs to the family of Software Development Methodologies(SDM), originally developed by Alistair Cockburn . CM are color coded to designate the peril to human life. CM has two types namely Crystal Sapphire(CS) and Crystal Clear(CC). If project do have risk then, we can use CS. else CC can be used depends on the risk factor of the project.

Crystal essentially focus on 6 primary characteristics such as people, interaction, community, skills, communication and talent respectively. Common properties of crystal clear are easy access to expert user, personal safety, focus, Agile technical environment, frequent delivery, reflective improvement and osmotic communication. CM are better flexible and try to avoid rigid processes due to its people-centric focus.

CM methods are essential used for designing and developing enhanced version of Sahana and modelling processes in order to meet the requirements of the team members. CM is adaptive in nature It is adaptive without having collection of prescribed tools as well as techniques. CM is lightweight without much documentation and reporting. Weight of the methodology is mainly decided by the project environment as well as team size.

Feature Driven Development: It was introduced in the year 1997 by Jeff De Luca . Feature driven development was developed around Software Engineering(SE) modelling, Code Ownership(CO), etc. Feature driven development comprises of 5 basic activities, such as, the overall development of model, the building of a feature list, planning by feature, designing by feature, as well as the building by feature. Each and every project will have its own prototype model which result into a feature list. Activities like planning by feature, designing by feature, as well as the building by feature are short iterative processes does not take longer than two weeks, then it will have to be decomposed into smaller features.

The main motivation of feature driven development is to deliver the designed software in a stipulated time. The advantage of feature driven development are scalable, best solution to maintain control over enhanced version of 'Sahana', incremental as well as inherently complex projects. Feature driven development can be used in i) Enterprise projects ii) Web projects iii) Sahana.

Five feature driven development activities are depicted in the following figure.
