Answer #1

In series circuit emax =120 V

Resistance R =50 ohms

The capacitance C = 20 micro farad

The inductance L = 0.15 H

And the frequency of the generator f =60 HZ

Now the capacitive reactance XC = 1/2πfc

Xc = 1/(2π*60*20*10^-6)

Xc = 132.629 ohms

This is the capacitance reactance

b)

The inductive reactance is

XL = 2πfL

XL = 2*π*60*0.15

XL = 56.54 ohms

This is the indicative reactance

C) now the impedance of the circuit

Z = R + j( XL - Xc )

Z = R + j ( 56.54 - 132.629)

Z = (50 - j 76.089 ) ohms

This is the impedance of the circuit

The magnitude of the impedance is

Z = (50² + 76.089-1/2

Z = 91.046 ohms

d) rms voltage of the power supply

VRMS = 120 /√2 = 84.85 V

Now the Rms current in the circuit will be

I rms = Vrms / Z = 84.85 / 91.046 = 0.9319 A

IRMS = 0.9319 A

This is the Rms current of the circuit
