Bacteria grow very quickly. Therefore, it is almost common sense for us to take as many precautions as we possibly can. With that being said, I would like for you to discuss your opinion on whatever or not you should wash your chicken before cooking. Please state now washing your meat can either reduce or increase the possibility of spreading bacteria and whether or not the rush is worth the reward.

Washing chicken before cooking may increase the risk of food poisoning from campylobacter bacteria. Slashing water from washing chicken under tap can spread the bacteria onto hands clothing, working surface and cooking equipments . Only a few campylobacter bacteria are need to cause food poisoning. Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in UK. Most cases of campylobacter bacteria infection come from poultry. About 50% of chicken sold in UK carries the bacteria. Campylobacter poisoning may cause tummy pain, severe diarrhea and sometimes vomiting for between two and five days .

So to avoid infection from bacteria:

Cover and chill raw chicken

Do not wash raw chicken

Wash used utensils

Cook chicken thoroughly
