In Chapter 16, employee rights are addressed. In a one page essay respond to the following question. Does the employer have the right to secure information about an employee’s health, work activities off the job, or their off-the job lifestyle? When would be the acceptable?
The employer has the authority to acquire only certain information of any employee which is related to work and office. The employer can collect the information regarding the heath of the employee because it helps in responding to any emergencies and type of work assigned to the employee and also insurance coverages. However the personal life of the employee is not at all related to the employer and they cannot under any circumstances collect information regarding their life. However if the life style outside the work is effecting the reputation of the company in any way then the employer might take action against the employee . They cannot even tract any employee outside work except they are out on duty . The employees have every right to ask for their privacy and if any employer is found bothering them after work without proper reason, then that employer will be liable to be punished.
