Conceptually, why would increasing the radius of a planet reduce the force? I get that mathmatically, the radius is inversly proportional to the force but conceptually, shouldnt a bigger planet have a larger force and acceleration value?

you are somewhat correct to an extent but actually the gravitational force is considered as central force that means the force acting by that specific planet on any object on its surface is towards the center of the planet and increasing the radius means increasing the separation of surface point from the center, so now if the distance increased, the intensity of force must be decreases.

instead of considering it one planet system,. you can take this system as two individual point particles where one point is the center of planet and other is the surface point.

i tried the easiest way possible to make you understand in a conceptual way rather than mathematical
